Low back & hips · Invitation
Restore breath so the low back can stop bracing. Then put the fold in the hips.
Two weeks as an invitation. Week one is a breath that lets the back go. Week two is folding from the hips so the low back is not the hinge. Beta access continues this into four, eight, or twelve weeks of Reset, Rebuild, or Restore — and the hip and knee programs that share this chain.
- — Breath that leaves the low back
- — A hinge the hips own
- — An invitation. Membership is the longer program

This week’s idea
Get the breath working in the belly and ribs so the low back can stop bracing every inhale.
Curriculum
One week at a time.
Finish this week’s three sessions and the next week opens. You can go back to a week you already did. You cannot skip ahead.
Next week: Hips that fold, back that does not
Week 1 of 2
Breath that lets the back go
This week’s framework
Get the breath working in the belly and ribs so the low back can stop bracing every inhale.
A stuck breath in parks the low back in an arch. Until the ribs can drop, every hinge and stretch is just acting. The back is strong — we are restoring a breath, not treating the spine as fragile. Between sessions, take a 20-minute walk. Walking helps more than extra rest.
Pattern
Bending from the low back / breathing into the chest
Where you should feel this
Success looks like
You can finish an exhale without the neck. The low back feels heavy on the floor.
Watch for
Shrugging for air. Pushing the low back down with the glutes instead of the exhale.

Self-massage for these sessions
People grind the low back and call it self-care. The useful work is the hip that will not fold and the ribs that will not turn.
Work around the low back — hip, side waist, ribcage — then hinge or breathe. Never a foam roller on the lumbar joints.
How this works
Quiet the tissue. Then give it a job.
A ball or roller can briefly turn down guarding and make a joint easier to move. It does not break scar tissue, melt fascia, or diagnose what hurts. The useful window is short — that is why every technique ends with a drill from the program.
How to use it with a program
- — Pick one or two spots that match the program you are in — not the whole body.
- — Sixty seconds a side, pressure you can talk through, then stand up and do the drill.
- — Before session A if the area feels parked. After a drill if that drill stayed sticky.
This is education for your own body. It is not a way to diagnose or treat a problem, and it is not a substitute for a clinician. These self-massage techniques are not a training method, and they are not to be used on other people.
Low back · Tennis or lacrosse ball
Side-of-waist ball
Quiet the side of the low back without rolling the spine.
45–60 seconds per side
Then: Side Bridge, then Suitcase Carry. Quiet the tissue, then make it hold.
Hip · Tennis or lacrosse ball
Back-of-hip ball
Quiet the back of the hip so the glute can actually lift, instead of the low back covering.
60 seconds per side
Then: Glute Bridge March, then Hip Airplane if the standing hip is the story.
Hip · Tennis ball
Front-of-hip ball
Take the shout out of the front of the hip so you can tuck the tailbone without a fight.
45–60 seconds per side
Then: Pelvic Clock, then Couch Stretch. Options, then length.
Thoracic spine · Foam roller
Mid-back roller
Give the ribcage a chance to extend and turn so the neck and low back stop finishing every move.
60–90 seconds, then a turn each way
Then: Open Book Rotation, then Wall Slide with Reach.
