Neck · Rebuild

Upright and under light load without the shrug. Carries + wall slides that keep the neck as a passenger.

You already quieted the nod. This block loads upright work so the shrug does not come back under a bag or a screen day.

For a head that sits forward, desk shoulders, headaches that start at the base of the skull, and a mid-back that feels empty rather than tight. We quiet the neck as a breathing muscle, restore a turn in the ribcage, and teach the shoulder blades to sit on the ribs — so the upper shoulders stop doing everyone else's job. 8 weeks. You already quieted the nod. This block loads upright work so the shrug does not come back under a bag or a screen day.

  • — A head that sits on the ribs
  • — Rotation the chest does not finish
  • — Honest load on the new pattern — not a separate personality called 'strength'

Week 1 of 8

Upright without the shrug

This week’s framework

Carries and wall slides that keep the neck as a passenger. Nod is Arrive — not the meat.

You already quieted the nod. This block loads upright work so the shrug does not come back under a bag or a screen day.

Pattern

Head sitting forward

Where you should feel this

Ribcage
Base of the skull
Upper shoulders (stay quiet)
Mid-back

Success looks like

No shrug on last Farmer. Look-over still from the ribs.

Watch for

Making nod the workout. Hiking to finish a wall slide.

Self-massage for these sessions

The neck often finishes work the ribcage should own. Soften the base of the skull, the upper trap, and the chest, then let the mid-back turn.

One or two of these before a session if the neck is already breathing for you, or after if a look-over-the-shoulder stayed sticky.

How this works

Quiet the tissue. Then give it a job.

A ball or roller can briefly turn down guarding and make a joint easier to move. It does not break scar tissue, melt fascia, or diagnose what hurts. The useful window is short — that is why every technique ends with a drill from the program.

How to use it with a program

  • — Pick one or two spots that match the program you are in — not the whole body.
  • — Sixty seconds a side, pressure you can talk through, then stand up and do the drill.
  • — Before session A if the area feels parked. After a drill if that drill stayed sticky.

This is education for your own body. It is not a way to diagnose or treat a problem, and it is not a substitute for a clinician. These self-massage techniques are not a training method, and they are not to be used on other people.
