Why we use it
Most sore knees have quietly given away the last bit of straightening. This brings it back.
Start here
Band around the back of the knee, anchored in front. Stand tall. Gently straighten against the band.
How to
- 1Loop a light band behind the working knee, anchored in front — or skip the band and sit.
- 2Stand tall. Gently straighten the knee against the band.
- 3Front of the thigh on, hip on, ribs quiet. Knee over the second toe.
Feel for
The front of the thigh locking the knee to a strong straight — not a snap into a back-bend of the knee.
Breathing
Breathe out as you straighten.
Do this
- — Front of the thigh on, hip on, ribs quiet.
- — Do not snap the knee back — stop at a strong straight.
- — Keep the knee tracking over the second toe.
Common mistakes
- — Snapping the knee too straight.
- — Leaning the torso to cheat the lockout.
Regression · Progression
Easier: No band. Sit and slowly straighten the knee.
Harder: Single-leg stand with a 3-second lockout.
